How to Clean False Eyelashes

How to clean false eyelashes

Buying a new pair of false lashes can be pretty costly, so there’s no reason to treat them like a single-serving beauty product. If you’ve purchased a pair of high-quality lashes, you can wear them multiple times if you take care of them and clean them regularly. The Chelsea mink lashes can be worn up to 20 times whereas our silk collection can be used up to 15 times with proper care.

Many women apply mascara over their false eyelashes, which can result in a buildup of excess product, leading to broken, creased or gunky-looking eyelashes. This will not only make it difficult to apply your lashes the next time, it can even lead to an eye infection. However, if you clean your false eyelashes the right way, this will never happen. One pair of good quality false lashes can last you several months if cleaned regularly, extending their life and saving you money. The good news is that it’s pretty easy to get glue strings and mascara clumps off your falsies, leaving them looking brand new!

If you’re wondering how to clean your lashes the right way, we’ve put together a quick guide to help you out!

How to Clean False Eyelashes

Everything you need to rid your falsies of dirt and impurities is probably in your medicine cabinet right now, so let’s dig in.

Products you’ll need:

  • A few cotton swabs
  • Some paper towels
  • Oil-free makeup remover

Method:

Step 1:

Take a paper towel and place your false eyelashes on it. Dip one end of a cotton swab in the oil-free makeup remover and squeeze it to shed off any excess product.

Step 2:

Using the cotton swab, carefully brush away the glue and makeup from your lashes. Make sure to give the lash band extra attention, as this is the area that accumulates the most gunk.

Step 3:

Take a fresh cotton swab and douse it in warm water. Gently rub it all over your lashes to clean off any remaining makeup or glue.

Step 4:

Never try to dry your false lashes by squeezing them! Simply place them on a clean paper towel and leave them to air dry.

Another way to clean your synthetic lashes is by soaking two cotton pads in eye makeup remover and gently pressing your lashes between them. The cotton pads will dissolve the glue and makeup on the lashes, leaving them clean and fresh. Finish the process by soaking two cotton pads in warm water and pressing your falsies between them.

Once the lashes are dry, you may still see a few glue clumps stuck on the eyelash bands. If this happens, don’t try to scrub or scrape them off. Instead, take a pair of tweezers and gently tug away any excess glue.

That’s it! You’re done!

Next time you wear a pair of false lashes, don’t forget to give them a good cleaning afterwards. This will not only ensure that they last longer, they’ll also look brand new each time you use them!
